Nicholas M. Kunda, MD
Dr. Nicholas M. Kunda, MD is a Fellowship-Trained, Double Board-Certified Plastic, Reconstructive, & Hand Surgeon. He is one of a select few surgeons throughout the country who have completed formal training in General Surgery, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, and Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery.
Dr. Kunda was born and raised on Long Island. He graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and minors in Business and Psychology. He went on receive his Doctor of Medicine from St. James School of Medicine.
Dr. Kunda completed his General Surgery Residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago. While training in General Surgery, he was the recipient of many awards, including twice being named Resident Teacher of the Year. In addition, Dr. Kunda was awarded a $100,000 scholarship for a year-long Research Fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago between his second and third years of General Surgery Residency.
Dr. Kunda then went on to complete a second residency in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the Stony Brook University Hospital/Nassau University Medical Center Program, serving as Chief Resident during his final year. Lastly, Dr. Kunda completed a final year of training as a Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery Fellow at Stony Brook University Hospital. In total, Dr. Kunda has completed 10 years of surgical training, allowing him to provide his patients with the highest quality surgical care using the most innovative surgical techniques.
Dr. Kunda is Double Board-Certified by both The American Board of Plastic Surgery and The American Board of Surgery. He has over 10 peer-reviewed publications and has presented his research at national meetings throughout the country. He is a member of The American Society of Plastic Surgeons, The America College of Surgeons, The Aesthetic Society, and The American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
Dr. Kunda specializes in aesthetic surgery of the face & body, cancer reconstruction, surgery of the hand & upper extremity, peripheral nerve surgery, and abdominal wall reconstruction.
Dr. Kunda treats both adults and children and sees patients at the both the Great Neck & Lynbrook Office locations.
